Part-Time Full Stack Engineer

Paystreak is on a mission to revolutionize the way small and medium-sized business (SMB) retailers connect with their customers in-store. Our product, a web-based application, is already in a pilot test in the convenience store market. Customers at this location use the product daily.

Role Overview:

As our first employee, you’ll collaborate closely with the founder to enhance and optimize the current version of our web-app. We’re seeking a part-time, Full Stack Engineer who can maintain, improve, and add value to our existing platform. Your expertise will be pivotal as we transition from our initial phase to the next stage of development. You will help think through problems and collaborate to find creative ways to solve them.

We are looking for someone that is interested in pursuing a project outside of their full-time job by contributing on an hourly basis. There is no set annual salary for this job, as you will bill hourly as a contractor. If you are looking for a normal developer job, this is not for you. This is an opportunity to be a part of building a product in the checkout/payments space. First, you will help improve the current pilot program, and later you will help to scale it.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Migration and Optimization

-Work on migrating our app from its current environment to a more efficient and scalable cloud platform (e.g., AWS,

Google Cloud, or Azure).

-Optimize existing code and databases for cloud compatibility.

Frontend and Backend Development:

-Create user-friendly interfaces for both retailers and customers.

-Develop APIs, microservices, and server-side logic.

-Seamlessly integrate frontend components with backend services.

Database Management:

-Design and maintain cloud-based databases.

-Ensure data consistency, security, and performance.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

-Utilize tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to define and manage cloud resources.

-Set up auto-scaling, load balancing, and monitoring.

Security and Compliance:

-Implement secure authentication mechanisms.

-Monitor and address security vulnerabilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

-Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).

-Strong programming skills in languages like Python, Java, or Node.js.

-Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks.

-Understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL).

-Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in full stack development and cloud engineering.
