Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist near Searingtown, New York. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be part of our team in the industry, playing a critical role in managing and tracking the compensation of our employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, and maintaining comprehensive employee records. Responsibilities: Oversee the weekly payroll preparations for a diverse team of employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Handle and update payroll-specific records including new hire documentation, adjustments in employee benefits, and employee pay scales. Monitor and maintain records of employees' work hours, absences, leaves, holidays, and sick leaves, ensuring all are accurately reflected in the payroll system. Perform necessary deductions such as state, local, and federal taxes from employees' total pay package, adhering to legal requirements. Manage the creation of payroll-specific journal entries and ensure they are properly recorded and filed. Oversee the billing process for worker compensation and manage the disbursement accurately. Maintain and handle 401(k) documentation and spreadsheet preparations and payments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Manage garnishment paperwork and update payroll files for employees accordingly. Regularly update and maintain records for health, dental, and group insurance coverage. Check the monthly insurance statements, prepare associated journal entries, and forward the invoice to the accounts payable department for payment. Ensure all New York state compliance training and other requirements are met in a timely manner. Handle tasks related to employee termination, including sending out termination letters and COBRA rights to ex-employees within 14 days of their leaving.
