Role: Radio Engineer Location: Brooklyn, NY Duration: Long Term Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with City personnel and vendor project team to coordinate activities, at all locations, where FDNY Tech Refresh radio system equipment shall be installed and/or configured
- Ensure that any construction, installation, and related activities being performed as part of the FDNY Tech Refresh project do not adversely impact City Agency relationships with building owners and managers
- Coordination of activities across City Agencies, including Electronics and Operations sections, to ensure maximum clarity of scope and stakeholder involvement
- Coordinate and properly manage the flow of information between all parties
- Coordinate the preparation and execution of all Methods of Procedures (MOPs) with City personnel and radio vendors
- Oversee the cut over process to the live environment to ensure compliance and minimal impact to all public safety radio systems
- Communicate risks and issues to City personnel, project management related functions as needed, and participate in risk and issue reviews
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned
- At least 12 years of experience overseeing large projects
- Experience working with a large US city police or fire radio shop, work on Public Safety radio systems
- Technical knowledge of public safety radio systems and dispatch operations
- Understanding of Police and/or Fire Radio system infrastructures and core requirements
- Must have knowledge, skills, and abilities in an enterprise system of systems environment within the Public Safety domain.
- Integration, Engineering and Testing background for Public Safety Answering Center System of Systems (911 Telephony Systems, Logging & Recording Systems, Computer Aided Dispatch Systems, Radio Console Systems, Client-Server computing, LAN/ WAN technology, Network Operating Systems and related communications protocols (TCP/IP, SMTP, SMNP, SIP)
