Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.Dr. Michael Barry’s virology, vector and vaccine engineering laboratory uses genes and viruses to treat a set of challenging diseases. The goals of the program are the development of in vivo molecular and viral therapies, cell-targeted molecular therapies, and treatments that stimulate or avoid the immune system. Stimulating the immune system in order to treat viral infections and cancer as well as avoiding the immune system for gene therapy and shielding vectors themselves. This position will involve work with animal models, and experience with research animals and/or colony management is desired.QualificationsRequires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required.
