Job Title: Entry-Level Paralegal (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Location: Finger Lakes Attorney PLLC, 3678 State Route 5 and 20, Canandaigua, New York 14424

Position Type: Part-Time (16-24 hours/week) or Full-Time (32 hours/week)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented paralegal to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced team members on matters related to estate administration, probate, and elder law. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong interest in these practice areas, or an experienced paralegal with a background in any legal field who is eager to provide exceptional client service.

Qualifications:

- Strong interest in estate administration, probate, and elder law, or relevant experience as a paralegal in any legal field with a willingness to learn about wills, trusts, estates and real property.

- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in an shared-space environment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with legal research tools and law practice management software is a plus.

- Strong client-service orientation with a professional demeanor.

- Motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, scheduling new and existing client appointments, running conflict checks, and opening client files.

- Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including administration and probate petitions, inventory of assets, informal and formal accountings, and judicial settlement petitions.

- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in the estate administration and probate processes.

- Manage and organize client files, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date.

- Maintain the firm’s law practice management system, ensuring that all deadlines are tracked and met.

- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support case preparation.

- Assist with the preparation of court filings and ensure compliance with court rules.

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or other equivalent.

- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

- Prior experience in a law firm or legal setting is preferred but not required.

Work Schedule:

- Flexible work schedule with options for part-time (16-24 hours/week) or full-time (32 hours/week).

- Remote work options may be available for full-time employees after an initial training period of 6-9 months.

Compensation:

- Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
