Blackstone's Cloud Platform Engineering Team is responsible for providing the next generation public cloud platform that supports numerous diverse workloads and helps empower and accelerate innovation at the firm. As the platform is built with a strong bias towards software defined infrastructure and automation techniques, platform engineers will be tasked with leveraging software engineering principles and best practice cloud infrastructure patterns to solve critical problems and provide meaningful enhancements.

The position involves extending the existing platform and providing new capabilities to solve numerous problem domains. As the lead engineer for the platform engineering team, you will be involved in design, implementation, and support of public cloud infrastructure, processes, and core components relied upon by applications across the firm. Team members will also be challenged with tracking developments in exciting areas like containerized runtimes, service meshes, and serverless computing in order to keep the platform evolving in powerful and impactful directions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leverage infrastructure-as-code frameworks to provision and maintain cloud resources
  • Design, build, and maintain critical systems for CI/CD, secrets management, and other core services
  • Partner with cloud security teams to harden and secure cloud infrastructure
  • Provide tooling and automated solutions to enable self-service
  • Improve availability, resiliency, and recoverability of key systems by leveraging modern configuration management, deployment methods, and architectural patterns
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to enable runtime environments that provide container and serverless solutions
  • Enhance observability and supportability of the public cloud platform

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of infrastructure/software engineering experience with a focus on Cloud technologies
  • 3+ years of Cloud experience preferably with AWS
  • Ability to write automation scripts and web services (Python, Bash)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code frameworks (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience with policy as code frameworks (e.g. Hashicorp Sentinel / Open Policy Agent)
  • Hands-on experience with public cloud providers (AWS)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience working with git source control and CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Gitlab CICD/Runners)
  • Experience with both Linux and Windows OS
  • Preferred - experience with Consul, Vault, and Terraform Cloud
  • Preferred - experience with containers and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills

Expected annual base salary range:

$170,000 - $200,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
