Primary FunctionCombine business acumen and analytical skills to oversee the gathering, organizing, and reporting of data related to the Firm’s business processes. Design reports, spreadsheets, and websites that visualize and present the data to the Partners of the Firm. This is a senior-level role that will require frequent interfacing with C-level Executives and Partners.

Experience & Skill Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or similar.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a financial analyst or equivalent position, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • A technical aptitude and an appreciation for gathering and analyzing data.
  • The ability to collaborate and work well with team members, other accounting groups, the IT department, and other firm personnel.
  • A familiarity with the concepts of relational databases.
  • Experience creating analytical spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience creating reports in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, SAP Crystal Reports, or equivalent.
  • A basic understanding of the business operations of the firm, including billing, collections, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, marketing, operational management, etc.
  • Experience with legal industry ERP software (3E, Aderant) a plus but not required.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Oversee the intake, processing, and delivery of "ad hoc" report requests from partners, executives, directors, etc., for example:
  • Business Development / RFP information
  • Reports related to financial performance, utilization, revenue, etc.
  • Charts and graphs for executive-level presentations
  • Submissions for industry surveys and award applications
  • Plan, create, and publish "canned" reports for frequent requests, for example:
  • Reports related to the client billing and collection process
  • Tools to assist with the Business Development and rate submission process
  • Metrics for measuring performance, utilization, revenue, etc.
  • Tools for budgeting and managing expenses
  • Assess candidates from the ad hoc report requests for conversion into canned reports.
  • Work with the Financial Systems Analysts to create databases, Excel macros, websites, and other resources to streamline the ad hoc and canned reports.
  • Research, curate, scrutinize, and sanitize data related to the firm’s business processes.
  • Assist with the processing of data for month-end balancing, integrity checks, financial audits, and similar business needs.
  • Work with the Financial Systems Analysts to design, implement, and maintain data mining models that identify trends and provide financial projections and analyses.
  • Perform routine tasks as required to maintain, process, and report the firm’s business-related data.
