Job Title: Senior Network Operations EngineerLocation: New York, NYFull TimeThe Senior Network Operations Engineer provides subject matter expertise, technical oversight,leadership and mentorship to the Service Operations group. They work on the most complex andtechnical issues handled by the Network Operations team, working closely with internalengineering teams and external vendors to see problems through to resolution. They help developthe processes and procedures that drive the adoption of best-practices standards throughout theinternal network teams and assist with the personal and technical development of the Network Operations team.Responsibilities and duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Provide technical expertise within the network operations team, acting as an escalation point for complex issues and queries.
  • Provide leadership and direction during high priority incidents, ensuring production issues are managed and resolved effectively.
  • Act as the lead Operations resource for internal projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of standards and processes for the global Network Operations team and drive their adoption throughout the global teams.
  • Participate in the design review process, providing critique to highlight risks and unnecessary design complexities, and to ensure operational standards are adhered to.
  • Work with other technology teams within the business to develop solutions to resolve operational risks and issues.
  • Mentor and assist in the personal and technical development of team members across the global Service Operations function.
Education, Skills, and Background (including experience requirements):
  • Previous experience supporting network infrastructure within an electronic trading environment.
  • Demonstrable technical understanding equivalent to CCIE level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
Required Skills
  • Strong understanding of general network routing and switching protocols and theory.
  • Solid understanding of IP Multicast with experience supporting market data feeds in a trading environment.
  • In depth knowledge of BGP theory, operation, and traffic-engineering within complex routing domains.
  • Detailed understanding of TCP/IP protocol theory and operation, with the ability to diagnose connectivity and performance issues from raw pcap data.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose the root cause of networking issues within complex network environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting IPSec VPNs.
  • Experience working with Network Management Systems utilizing SNMP and Syslog.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with PTP and GPS timing systems to provide a highly accurate clock source for electronic trading infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting the following platforms: Arista, Cisco Nexus, Cisco ASA, Fortigate, Palo Alto, Corvil.
  • Experience working with Layer 1 switching technologies.
  • Experience using automation technologies: Python, Ansible, Git.
