We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to work on an enterprise server clustering/consolidation initiative in our complex environment. The Senior Systems Engineer will be an essential member of the team for our SQL Server consolidation project, which will reduce the SQL Server footprint across Montefiore, reducing the licensing cost and ultimately reducing the OTPS. Besides the cost savings to the health system, this initiative will also standardize the database environment across the Montefiore enterprise.

Responsibilities include:
  • Establish and maintain database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables including conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
  • SQL Server Installation and Administration
  • SQL Server database Consolidation
  • Creating, maintaining databases
  • Managing access to databases
  • Designing HA DR solutions including Always-On and Clustering
  • Code using T-SQL and PowerShell for various database related processes.
  • Troubleshooting SQL Server outages as they occur including after-hours/on weekends
  • Document the company's database environment
  • Help establish standards and best practices for database design, and consult with development and quality assurance on compliance for database design best practices
  • Support data migration projects, conversions, and product upgrades
  • Discover automation opportunities to replace manual processes
  • Heavy performance tuning
  • Create, configure, and deploy SSIS packages

Requirements include:
  • 8 or more years of enterprise IT experience
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining database servers in a clustered enterprise environment
  • Experience working on a large-scale server consolidation in an enterprise IT environment
  • Experience working with a development lifecycle methodology.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2016 and 2019, Clustering, and SQL Server Always On
  • Preference : High Availability server clusters OR High Performance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred OR Experience in Relative work environement
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certification is preferred
