POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Internal technical teams and vendors to design the Infrastructure solutions
- Create documentation per MCIT standards, including run books, Visio drawings, update CMDB, etc.
- Build and configure environment, both physical and virtual
- Work with Networking, Architecture, Datacenter Operations, application owners, vendors, etc. to gather requirements, establish standards, etc.
- Ensure Datacenter and Network preparedness for new hardware
- Ensure that CIs and relationships for our Team’s area are maintained in the CMDB
- Create and work on Change Tickets, Service Requests, and Incidents as dictated by the workflow and Management
- Review Ivanti HEAT ticket queues and resolve tickets in a timely manner
- Work with Application owners to onboard new applications
- Perform Capacity Management and Performance Management for NYULH physical and virtual infrastructures
- Execute plans to refresh or decommission server components
- Work may require off hours and weekend support
- Provide documented standards and processes for server provisioning and decommissioning for Windows servers and ESXi hosts.
- Test and sign off on VMware security/bug fixes to ESXi hosts and MS Security patches to Windows servers including service packs prior to deployment by the Operations team
- Maintain an accurate and up to date server inventory in the CMDB with details such as the application name, application owner, and tier in the ticketing system
- Assist with monitoring and provide 3rd level troubleshooting support for break/fix issues
- Coordinate and review the capacity needs for the physical and virtual servers (e.g. CPU, disk, RAM) based on information from the monitoring tools (vROPS) and schedule to add resources where required in conjunction with Application owners
- Proactively participate in virtualization support issues by identifying, researching, and applying solutions to a wide variety of technical issues
- Function as a mentor to provide knowledge transfer to peers, IT staff, and managed service Operations staff
- Work with 3rd Party vendors and internal customers, interfacing with management personnel, to accomplish requested technical tasks
- Serve as a technical contact on projects requiring the provisioning of physical servers and VMs
- Follow policies and procedures for change, problem, and incident management
- Other duties as directed
- Senior engineer for design and architecture planning and implementing new technologies
- Create Design documentation, build documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures
- 7+ years’ experience working in an enterprise VMware environment (300+ ESXi hosts), with experience in multiple VMware products suites
- Strong experience with Cisco UCS blades, Fabric Interconnects, and technologies
- Extensive (5+ years) with VMWare including the ability to make design decisions for new implementations following VMware best practice
- Experience with HCI (Hyper-converged infrastructure) concepts and platforms (Nutanix, VxRail, Cisco HyperFlex, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with heavy focus on presenting technical design and engineering direction to peers or leadership
- Experience with data center migration workloads on-premise site to site datacenters
- Ability to work with team members, at all levels, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues
- Ability to make strategic hardware and software recommendations based on existing or new technologies
- Strong understanding of block and file storage technologies
- Strong understanding of networking technologies
- Strong understanding of security technologies
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience
- Experience with datacenter migrations, including VM, P2V and physical migrations
- Prefer experience with VxRail and vSAN technologies Working knowledge of an OS monitoring tool such as SolarWinds or Nagios
- Advanced scripting knowledge in PowerShell is a plus
- Excellent understanding of storage, network, and hardware technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent attention to detail and proven strong analytical/trouble shooting skills
- Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline is required (Computer Science preferred)
- 8+ years experience with Windows Operating Systems (including 2016 and above)
- 5+ years experience with medium to large vSphere virtual infrastructure environments
- 5+ years experience with SRM, vROPS, Configuration Manager, Update Manager, LogInsight, and/or other tools to manage VMware environment
- 5+ years experience with Dell, and Cisco server hardware
- Experience within a healthcare environment is preferred
- Microsoft certification is a strong plus
