DESCRIPTION

Job summaryCome join the AWS Data Exchange team as we build a marketplace that transforms how customers find, subscribe to, and use third-party data in the cloud. Our service is less than three years old and already has thousands of data products from hundreds of data providers, including some of the biggest names in healthcare, financial services, retail, and media.

As a recently launched service based in NYC, this is your chance to work in a start-up like environment within the world's most successful cloud business. Our team is made up of inspired product managers, strong technical leaders, and motivated, autonomous software engineers. We are looking for innovative leaders with a passion for solving challenging problems to join the team and help evolve the service. As a Software Development Manager on the AWS Data Exchange you will be a key contributor to the future direction and growth of the service. You will lead a team of highly productive and action-oriented professionals and drive the architecture and implementation of the next set of features. You will own solutions at AWS scale, resolve customer challenges, and help maintain and enhance the operational excellence that creates loyal AWS customers. As a leader of this team you will be given the opportunity to make fundamental contributions to the development of an AWS service while growing your own professional skills.

You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects, relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, haven't been solved at scale before, and passionate about empowering customers on AWS. Along the way, we guarantee that you'll learn a ton, have fun, and make a positive impact on millions of people.

About the team

We favor serverless technologies and use Typescript as our primary language. We use Lambda, Node.js, API Gateway, DynamoDB, StepFunctions and others. If you haven't worked in Typescript before, you can come learn it with us. Our team is made up of engineers who have previously worked in Java, C#, Python and everything else.

Customers tell us they want finding and using data to be as easy as shopping online; however with existing solutions it can take hundreds of hours to start getting value out of third-party data. AWS Data Exchange reduces that process to minutes so builders can jump straight to using data to solve problems. We do this by deeply integrating with commonly used AWS services like S3, Redshift, and API Gateway; which are used as the delivery methods for third-party data.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future. You'll have an opportunity to learn from people with and without engineering backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring and thorough and helpful code reviews. Haven't used Typescript before? No problem! Come learn it while working with us.

We care about your career growth. You will work on projects and tasks that will develop your skills and enable you to take on increasingly complex tasks. We also provide subscriptions to many popular technical education trainings / certification courses.

Inclusive Team Culture

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. Examples include the Black Employee Network (BEN), Amazon Women in Engineering (AWE), and Indigenous@. Amazon's culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 16 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust. We're looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively with a diverse team of peers; someone who will help us amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we've been building.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
