GENERAL PURPOSE:Works as part of an interdisciplinary team and assigned a NYS licensed and ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist clinical supervisor who provides guidance to satisfy requirements for both licensure and completion of the ASHA Clinical Fellowship (CFY).JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs and interprets speech and language evaluations for both patients with communicative disorders and those requiring more specialized care, such as patients with dysphagia, laryngectomy and aphasia.
Plans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results. Develops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients including Plans of Care.
Provides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s). Adapts existing resources to meet patient and caregiver needs.
Maintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient. Communicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools.
Recommends changes in standard departmental practices.
Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited training institution required
or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Ability to operate standard office machines and office computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint) required
Ability to learn computer programs related to electronic medical records and charge capture/schedule systems required
Basic operating knowledge of standard diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures and related test equipment/materials used in Speech Pathology required
Ability to pass required mandatory in-service and staff competency training, which may include FIM administration. required
NYS interim licensure in Speech-Language Pathology, or proven eligibility for licensure upon hire required
