Description OverviewThe Senior Construction Accountant collaborates closely with project teams to manage the financial operations essential for the successful completion of assigned projects. This role entails direct responsibility for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and ensuring project compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the Controller or their designee, the Senior Construction Accountant will ensure the seamless integration of financial accounting and treasury management practices, as directed by the VP of Accounting or Finance Controller. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the project reports.

Manage all Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

Review and audit vendor invoices for accuracy and required backup per contract.

Properly review, analyze, and set up billing rates and terms per contracts.

Prepare all client invoices and establish a relationship with clients, including timely collections of payment.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Develop system controls for ensuring data integrity.

Review project financial data and prepare reconciliations monthly to ensure completeness of the data.

Provide accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process.

Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned.

Lead annual audits.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

Minimum 5 years of experience in operational accounting, preferred.

General understanding of cost accounting and WIP.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
