Sr. Workflow Solutions Specialist, Media & Technology Ops

Job Summary:

Working as part of the Media & Technology Ops team, the Sr. Workflow Solutions Specialist will be responsible for end-user research and solving complex problems across newsgathering and media operations. This person will be responsible for determining workflow needs and pain-points, product managing solutions related to those pain points, as well as implementing systems and processes through careful change management and end-user engagement. Solutions can vary from implementing new processes, designing and integrating vendor systems, independently building no/low-code solutions, or managing development of a custom software build with partners across Disney. The ideal candidate has experience working with newsroom related systems and has been involved in television, streaming, and/or digital news production.

Examples of work: product managing a newsroom tool through its lifecycle, creating and managing training resources and tools to improve onboarding, guiding major process changes and technology changes.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with stakeholders across the news division to determine pain-points in existing processes through user-driven research.
  • Determine relevant solutions based on existing pain-points and anticipated business needs and provide proposals regarding how to implement them.
  • Project manage the development of new workflow solutions. This will involve iteratively collaborating with software development, media operations, product development and editorial groups.
  • Stakeholder management including frequently leading meetings and publishing strong written materials companywide.
  • Expectation to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently work through obstacles.
  • Maintain a firm understanding of how workflow improvements and new solutions tie into the greater goals of ABC News.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in corporate environment and solving cross-department problems.
  • Ability to write, own, and self-manage a project plan and roadmap
  • Must be team oriented and motivated by collaboratively creating new value for end-users.
  • Ability to harmoniously and proactively work with different groups with varying work cultures.
  • Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills, including an ability to build rapport and consensus on teams
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and solutions driven.
  • Experience in new media or legacy media operations (either directly or as a consultant).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Product Management experience.
  • Software Development experience.
  • UX Design experience.
  • Experience with Newsroom Computer Systems (Dalet, iNews, ENPS) and broadcast rundowns
  • New media strategy experience.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
The hiring range for this position in New York is $129,806 to $174,130 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
