This role ensures that all machinery and equipment are functioning optimally, complies with safety regulations, and meets production goals. The supervisor also manages preventive maintenance schedules, responds to breakdowns, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
Schedule and assign work to maintenance staff based on production needs and priorities.
Monitor and assess team performance, providing feedback.
Maintenance Operations:
Oversee daily maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Planned Maintenance Optimization with experience is a must
Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
Respond to emergency breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks comply with safety and regulatory standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve maintenance procedures and equipment efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements.
Track and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Inventory and Budget Management:
Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies to ensure availability when needed.
Control maintenance budget, monitor expenses, and seek cost-saving opportunities.
SAP or related inventory management.
Professional relationship building skills with contractors and suppliers.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to company safety policies and government regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any identified risks.
Participate in safety training and development programs for maintenance staff.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment history.
Prepare and present maintenance reports to management.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical or vocational training in mechanical or electrical maintenance preferred.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is a plus.
Experience:
3+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Familiarity with food safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications:
Certification in maintenance management or relevant technical certifications is an advantage.
OSHA safety certification is a plus.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a food manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, machinery, and temperature variations.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays, as required by production schedules.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
