Seeking an experience and dedicated Database Administrator join a small tightly knit group of a financial services boutique.The group is responsible for Data and database integrity, architecture, modeling, security, performance tuning and Disaster recovery of the tens of servers hosting Sybase ASE instances in a 24x7 environment.
Responsibilities will include:- As member of a team, support the Database Servers in a development environment
- Continuously improve database performance and operational excellence
- Contribute to the building out of database architecture, design and modeling to improve database integrity
- Develop, manage and maintain capacity, day-to-day database operations, and disaster recovery (DR)
- Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues and recommend solutions
- Adhere to best practices regarding access to and management of databases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot live issues, internally or externally reported
- Plan and executed strategies for operational and development support, monitoring, deployments, security and performance analysis
- Communicate with and update management on systems health
- Participate in on-call rotation and 24x7 supporting and troubleshooting database issues
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in 24x7, mission-critical environment
- Demonstrated Sybase ASE Database Administration and Sybase Replication experience
- Strong knowledge of the technical aspects of database security, enterprise backup and restore, and replication strategies
- Experience with Sybase database architecture, deployment, monitoring, security, support, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Experience designing and implementing complex Disaster Recovery and high availability and failover solutions
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing large and complex data sets within Sybase and MongoDB databases
- Proven ability in executing and supporting strategies to ensure the health of enterprise database environments
- Proven ability to plan, communicate, perform and verify production changes
- Experience with Linux and Shell and/or Perl scripting
- Proven experience in providing highly secure and available, fault-tolerant enterprise systems
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve technical issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be willing and available to work on weekends to execute weekend maintenance procedures
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical science
- Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL would be helpful
