This is a lead role in our 3rd line IT Engineering Department, encompassing design and implementation of security and operations systems and services. The primary focus will be maintaining technology and security certifications in our hybrid environment consisting of a colocated datacenter, Azure, and regional offices. This role requires a person with a diverse perspective and progressive technology skills, following trends to propose opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and risk mitigation. This role will evaluate and recommend the adoption of future advancements in technology. We expect this role to keep pace with the firm’s expanding service portfolio and high standards, and it’s continued investment in leading edge analytics, services, security, and technology. Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for infrastructure specification, risk management, highly available & secure design, and implementation in a hybrid environment. Oversee 3rd party vendors as applicable to system implementation and operations.
  • Maintain system monitoring, alerts, thresholds, and capacity management.
  • Lead testing for proof of concepts and using results to make recommendations.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of the firm's technology, such as topologies, software and hardware inventories following the firm’s standards for ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and Change Management.:
  • Disaster recovery design, data backups, system snapshots and failover testing.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems and performances issues effecting systems and applications.
  • Assist Technical Support, Engineers, Network Administrators, and customers with escalated trouble calls by providing prompt response and solutions. Advanced troubleshooting of escalated technical issues to include working with 3rd party vendors until resolution.
  • Maintenance of Systems:
  • Attendance of monthly off-hours patch maintenance, travel as the business requires, and be available for unscheduled emergency maintenance.
  • Lifecycle management; OS migration and replacing EOL/faulty hardware,
  • Plan, direct and organize activities of the datacenter, technology rooms and its systems contained therein, such as design layout, racks, wiring, cooling, and power distribution.
  • Validate and coordinate escalation of issues from 1st (Help Desk & Local Support) and 2nd line support to additional resources in IT, as needed.
  • Travel as required by the firm for office openings, renovations, repairs, and system expansions.
  • Skills, Experience, Education and Other Job Related Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years of experience in a System Engineering role of at least 200 nodes.
  • Expertise with Windows based networks from administration to advanced operating system configurations, such as Active Directory, Hyper-V, Certificate services, Group Policy, Print Servers, clustering, and network load balancing.
  • Experience working within an environment with strong risk controls such as ISO 27001, NIST, or SOC2 standards.
  • Experience with datacenters and office openings– server hardware, racking and stacking, wiring, power, cooling.
  • Experience with the following technologies:
  • Azure IaaS and hybrid environments.
  • Colocated Datacenters
  • Networking within a Cisco or Fortinet environment.
  • Disaster recovery technology like Veeam, ASR, or Zerto.
  • Privileged access management.
  • Windows Powershell scripting, on premise, Azure, and Office 365.
  • Office 365 / Intune administration.
  • VPN, remote access, Multifactor authentication.
  • Alerting platforms, such as Solarwinds.
  • Maintaining relevant operational documentation.
  • Relevant technical certifications a plus; strong understanding of industry leading management frameworks (ITIL, ISO).
  • Interpersonal skills and Team oriented person who is communicative, organized, responsible, inquisitive, diligent, and a desire to deliver results with quality.
  • A business case, security first, high availability mentality; willing to take risks to improve systems with appropriate leadership and change management approvals.
  • Ability to lead projects, work independently, meet deadlines and effectively complete designated job assignments.
  • Attendance Requirements: On site during scheduled working hours and available as necessary before or after normal working hours, in order to meet the demands of the job and the needs of the firm as necessary.
  • Will be required to work as part of rotating on call schedule. Expected to own a Mobile Device to insure availability, system monitoring and response, as dictated by the schedule.
