Eligibility may vary.Position descriptionManages the day-to-day operations of the computer aided dispatch (CAD) system within Emergency Communications (EC). This includes: updating, evaluating and troubleshooting mapping system information; maintaining airport, landing zone, facility, personnel and vehicle databases and code files within the system; developing, deploying and evaluating system status management tools; maintaining and troubleshooting interfaces between the automated vehicle location systems and the CAD system; develops user resources for dispatchers; manages the medical pre-arrival software program and the CAD system interface; serves as primary point of contact for inter-campus ambulance Patient Transport Scheduling Tool (PTST), and Medical Transport Awareness Tool (MTAT) boards. Manages and develops interfaces between communication systems and the CAD system. Will work with internal and external telecommunications personnel to maintain and troubleshoot pager and other pre-hospital communication systems used in EC. Communicates with a variety of public service agencies and private sector entities to ensure 911 phone system information is accurate, up-to-date and interacting with all other compatible operational systems. Works with vendor telecommunication and radio technicians to service, support and grow existing telephone and radio systems. Represents the ECC as needed on State and National level Next Generation 911 and Long Term Evolution workgroups which are developing future 911 standards, including mapping information and system access requirements. Supports internal and external customers to ensure necessary communication systems are working to access ECC and needed medical teams. Seeks, evaluates and project manages the development of communication pathways and technologies for existing and new customers to improve access to ECC and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service.The System Manager collaborates with EC leadership to support and serve EC emergency medical dispatchers and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service ground and air operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing on-call coverage for EC system and procedural support and filling the EC Hospital Incident Command roll when needed. The System Manager will represent EC on the Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service information technology committees as needed. The System Manager will support the growth of Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service by developing and participating in process improvement projects and applicable research projects.QualificationsBachelor’s degree required in the field of Project Management, Emergency Management and Business Continuity or Technology Management or related field. A minimum of five years of emergency medical services communication experience is required.Additional qualificationsMaster’s degree preferred in the field of Project Management, Emergency Management and Business Continuity or Technology Management or related field. Experience operating and evaluating geographic information systems used for dispatching public safety services is necessary. Must have knowledge and experience working with land and satellite based vehicle locating systems. Must have experience developing and managing facility and address databases used for dispatching public safety services. Must have demonstrated applied knowledge of Federal Communication Commission 911 service regulations. Experience operating, and troubleshooting current public safety phone and radio systems is required. Experience integrating computer aided dispatch and telecommunication systems is required.License or certificationMust be a certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher or Air Medical Dispatcher.
