This role offers a hybrid work schedule; offering the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, while providing the opportunity for in-person collaboration.

Consumer, Business and Digital Banking - We work with our retail banking, business banking, consumer lending, mortgage and digital banking businesses to define far reaching technology strategies to evolve our customer experiences, to make us easier to business with and to deliver solutions that deliver real value. This includes all core consumer deposit, loan and payment processing and servicing platforms; all core channel systems for retail branches, ATMs and call centers; custom built online and mobile banking platforms; and mtb.com and marketing ecosystem capabilities.

Overview:

Manages the activities of Team Leaders. Responsible for the budget of cost center(s) spanning concurrent development streams. Provides long and short-term strategic direction for the functional team for multiple applications and/or cost centers. Serves as primary contact to the Technology leadership team and business partners. Oversees development and career planning for all team members.

What you will be doing:
  • Participating in our engineering culture, with an emphasis on contributing ideas, thoughts, and constructive feedback regarding the work of others on our team
  • Interviewing, onboarding, and training engineers as they join the team

Leading a team of developers and engineers on their agile transformation journey including:
  • Personal performance management
  • Career planning
  • Team building events
  • Technical implementation guidance on the stack that they develop on
  • Technical guidance around build/release automation & DevOps
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Be a servant leader for the team

Perform the role of Application Owner including tasks like
  • Disaster recovery planning
  • Vulnerability management
  • Audit / compliance management

Education and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree and 7 years' technology or systems management/leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years' technology or systems management/leadership experience

The successful candidate will have:
  • Computer science, development and/or systems engineering background required
  • Experience in coaching and developing a team of technologists
  • Experience in client server based applications, Mainframe a plus
  • Experience in build/deploy automation including technologies like Docker & Kubernetes a significant plus
  • Passion for or experience in servant leadership a significant plus
