About the Role
We’re seeking a Truss Design Team Lead to take a hands-on leadership role within our truss design department.
This position requires strong technical expertise in truss design software and the ability to lead and coordinate the growing design team. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on design responsibilities with team management, scheduling, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure all projects move efficiently from design to production.
You’ll work closely with the Design Team Manager to plan and prioritize projects, assign jobs, review work, and ensure timely delivery of accurate and efficient truss designs for quoting and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Design trusses using MiTek, Alpine, Simpson, and other industry-standard truss design software
Learn and adapt quickly to new software or system updates
Design complete truss layouts independently and modify others’ designs as needed
Review all truss designs for efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
Assign work to the design team and manage scheduling for all ongoing projects
Stay on top of deadlines and ensure timely completion of all designs
Review and approve team designs before submission to quoting or production
Coordinate daily with the Design Team Manager to align schedules and priorities
Hand off completed design files for quoting and production
Provide technical direction and ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy across all designs
Occasional local travel for meetings or project coordination
Qualifications
Strong technical knowledge of truss design and the truss industry (required)
Proficiency in MiTek, Alpine, and Simpson design software (required)
Ability to design and modify trusses independently with accuracy and speed
Strong organizational and leadership skills with proven team management ability
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
Must work full-time, in-house, at our Williamsburg, NY office
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $100K–$120K (based on experience)
