Position Summary

As the UC Engineer, part of the Global Telecommunications Team, the successful candidate will have the responsibility for overseeing and managing the implementation of Unified Communications Projects as well as providing support for all UC Services and related issues or outages. Under the guidance of the Telecommunications Director the UC Engineer will be responsible for increasing interoperability between voice, video, and collaboration services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, deployment, testing, and implementation of new voice, video, and collaboration services.
  • Oversee existing unified communication services, phone and video conference room equipment and systems are in working order.
  • Track end of life Services. Recommend system replacement and upgrades that fit the UC roadmap.
  • Troubleshooting voice, video, and collaboration tools and vendor escalation if required, to achieve resolution as well as providing written root cause analysis.
  • Ensure smooth operation of the UC Infrastructure to provide maximum performance and limiting liability.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation of Voice, Video, and Collaboration services.
  • Assist when needed with Large Events, Company All-Hands Call, and Executive Video Conferences.
  • Monitor and Produce Telecom Compliance Reports.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Technical knowledge of configuration, maintenance, modification, and installation of VoIP and video communications systems and integration.
  • Understanding of PBX Functions, Call Routing, and SIP Trunking
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and Data Transport Protocols (SIP and H.323)
  • Understanding of Network, Computer and AV Cables, Connections, and Extenders (RJ-11, RJ-45, BNC, ST/SC/LC, CAT-5e CAT-6, Multi & Single mode fiber, HDMI, VGA)
  • Familiarity with Cisco and/or Polycom Room Systems and Desk Phones.
  • Knowledge of Collaboration Software (WebEx, Slack, Zoom, MS Teams, 8x8, Ring Central, Fuze and/or Vonage)
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply this to day-to-day work activities.
  • Understanding of Domestic & International Telco Carriers - Traditional & Cloud Based.
  • Three years of related system administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience in IT is preferred with job related certifications (Cisco, Avaya) are a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50lbs, if needed.
