Windows Desktop Support Engineer Job in Rochester, NY:

The Windows Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining one or more dimensions of the Desktop/End User and Network environments. They participate in team tactical planning and problem solving.

Duties of the Windows Desktop Support Engineer Job in Rochester, NY:
  • Configures and manages software release and patch testing, Desktop/End User, Server, or Network upgrades, as well as monitoring and resolution of all related problems;
  • Provisions Physical or Virtual desktops,
  • Provides input and recommendations on specific technical issues for projects and day-to-day operations and recommendation on technical configurations and improvements based on industry standard approaches;
  • Maintains security-related technologies in the relevant spaces
  • Uses monitoring tools and ensures systems performance parameters stay within acceptable user requirements or promised SLAs;
  • Monitors demand for services and capacity and reports when there is risk of over-allocation, reduced customer satisfaction, missed SLAs, device saturation in their respective technologies;
  • Participates on technology projects of limited scope;
  • Creates operational documentation for Help Desk, On-Call, and Incident Response;
  • Desired Qualification of the Windows Desktop Support Engineer Job in Rochester, NY:
  • Knowledge of desktop operating systems and affiliated software components, services, protocols and technologies;
  • Knowledge of desk top applications and peripherals;
  • Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communications;
  • Ability to create and use technical and organizational documentation tools (EXAMPLES: spreadsheets, diagrams, word processing, Gantt charts);
  • Ability to write procedures and work instructions;
  • Ability to organize personal workload and consistently deliver on assigned work within the relevant technical area;

  • Ability to be customer focused; Ability to coordinate and communicate with internal and external customers/vendors;
  • Ability to employ team work skills and experiences;

  • Ability to maintain an understanding of client computing deployment, configuration, upgrade, and integration concepts.
