For detailed information regarding the 55-a Program, please visit the following link https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dcas/employment/55-a-program.page Compensation:Workers Comp Benefit Examiner 1: $49,586 - $55,322Workers Comp Benefit Examiner 2: $54,025 - $67,634 Responsibilities:Under general supervision with wide latitude for independent action/decision, performs complex technical and financial functions related to Workers’ Compensation. Prepares cases for Workers’ Compensation Board and arbitration hearings; processes awards/decisions and medical invoices; reviews complex cases involving multiple injuries to determine requirements for surveillance, liens, subrogation and case management action plans.Education and Experience:

An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science: or

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience implementing the provisions of a workers' compensation benefits; or

A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Satisfactory completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college, including 3 semester credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science may be substituted for 6 months of the full-time experience as described in "2" above. However, all candidates must possess at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

Special Notes:

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements:

Three additional years of satisfactory full-time experience implementing the provisions of a workers' compensation benefits; and

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science; and

Demonstrated ability to work independently under minimum supervision with a wide latitude for discretion, independent judgment, and the ability to organize and perform specialized case management reviews and task force projects.

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of NYS Workers' Compensation regulations

Knowledge of MTA-NYCT policies and contracts related to Workers' Compensation

Proficient knowledge of PC applications

Excellent oral and written communication skills; skilled in computational analysis
