Qualified Labour & Employment (L&E) Lawyer specializing in laws & regulations/policies & practices as it pertains to employees, ideally including expertise in the areas of compensation and benefits, with experience across multiple countries in the Europe region. Interprets legal implications of internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to enable the achievement of business objectives. Stays informed of industry trends and legislative changes that may influence work. The location is flexible in major European cities - Frankfurt, Milan, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Geneva (preferred) - and can be home-based (with travel to sites required per needs of job), and the role will support NIQ for the Europe region. The position will be expected to work with cross functional teams to support the business L&E needs as required.Responsibilities Providing legal advice and support on Labour and Employment law issues to NIQ across Europe. including, for example, cross border restructuring projects, redundancies and outsourcing; equal opportunities and diversity; employment litigation; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; collective bargaining obligations; employee discipline, grievances and termination; drafting of employment separation agreements; working time obligations. Retain and work effectively with outside counsel where required, and manage external counsel to reduce costs, secure value-added services and improve ‘make vs buy’ decisions. Work as part of the L&E team to drive simplification initiatives and consistent enterprise standards for Labour and Employment support across the Europe Region. Providing training for the HR and business teams on key employment and compliance risk areas. Keeping abreast of relevant legal developments across Europe. Qualifications And Requirements Qualified lawyer in at least one European jurisdiction. Post-qualification experience in labour and employment law in Europe, including demonstrated knowledge and experience of labour & employment law across multiple European jurisdictions. Preferably time spent both with a leading law firm or in-house with a multinational corporation, that includes: Extensive “hands-on” labour & employment legal experience, including experience of handling cross-border matters and major projects; and Substantial experience and success in working with senior management and international environments Outstanding written and oral communication skills Hands-on, roll up your sleeves attorney who can work well in a fast-paced environment The experience and confidence to push for change and, when appropriate challenge the status quo, in a way that will be heard and respected Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct Able to work collaboratively across multiple functions in a team environment to implement complex programs; strong interpersonal skills; team player with a sense of humor and ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels Must be a self-starter and finisher with the ability to efficiently complete projects with minimal oversight A sophisticated understanding of business and commerce in order to ensure that a compliant environment is aligned with corporate business objectives Ability to problem solve and think strategically in ambiguous situations Ability to distill complex legal concepts and issues in a manner to make them understandable to non-legal specialists Strong decision-making aptitude Solutions-oriented approach to problem solving Excellent risk identification and mitigation skills
