DescriptionBecome part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 diverse employees, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.Summary:As a member of the Pastoral Care Department, the chaplain provides spiritual support for patients, families, hospital staff and adjunct staff through the utilization of resources for hope and healing. The hospital chaplain provides oversight of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training program.Responsibilities:

When appropriate refer patient/family to other professionals, i.e., clergy, counselors, etc.

Evaluate patients and families for faith history in assigned clinical areas. Where appropriate develop plan of care to help patient and/or family to utilize spiritual/religious resources.

Re-evaluate for spiritual needs based on length of stay, progression of illness and/or emotional responses. Be an active participant in patient care conferences. Develop, maintain, and communicate monthly adjunct staff on-call calendar.

Coordinate monthly plenary adjunct staff meeting. Routinely consult with nursing and allied staff concerning patient care issues. Communicate positively, clearly, accurately, and timely in all interactions. Demonstrate ability to express self in all areas of communication and utilize effective listening skills.

Document each visit, telephone call or contact. Record information in appropriate method i.e., paper, electronic chart, etc. Record plan of care outcomes.
