We are helping to rethink how we use data to fulfill the needs of our customers (both internal and external). In this role, you will have an opportunity to be a part of implementing the enterprise-wide Master Data framework, processes, procedures, and guidelines for the organization. This position requires significant amount of collaboration across all business areas within Compass NA and will be essential to building out an enterprise-wide sustainable Master Data Management program.The Data Analyst is a technical/functional role in data management, with responsibility for ensuring that entities and business rules are clearly documented, and metadata is gathered in a central repository. The data analyst will require strong data modeling knowledge and skills, as well as the ability to dive into the details. The primary function is to profile the data, which includes the processes of examining the data available from an existing information source and collecting statistics or informative summaries about that data.Job ResponsibilitiesThis data analyst role is primarily focused on Item data for MDM Go-to expert for the company with anything in the realm of Master Data; responsible for assuring quality and trust in the Master Data, creating standard definitions for the organization to follow, and maintaining a consistent use of data resources across the organizationTrusted resource who keeps the company adhering to the ever-changing set of data laws locally, regionally, and nationally to avoid penalties or finesData and Business Logic validation- Provides source to target data mapping documentation along with business rules based on profiling results
- Strong SQL Skills and Analytical capabilities
- Ability to work across a large and complex database, data warehouse and data lake environments
- Work on tasks and projects independently and meets deadlines and schedules
- Quickly understand business issues and data challenges to suggest areas of improvement while promoting standards and best practices
- Collaborate with PMs, clients, application developers, database developers, business analysts and product owners to understand data elements, systems, processes, and procedures and implement solutions
- Efficiency in handling data - tracking data lineage, ensuring data quality, and improving discoverability of data
- Advocates and leads with vision of data, educating employees, and keeping a pulse on new best practices and technology
- BA/BS or equivalent
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in analytics role
- Strong Excel Skills and analytical capabilities
- Excellent proficiency in SQL skills
- Advanced understanding of ETL or ELT processes and tools
- Demonstrable ability to work with large data sets
- Strong experience with data mapping, data mining, data profiling, analysis, and providing insights
- Experience with STEP by Stibo or other MDM related platforms
- Experience with ER Studio or other Data Modeling tools
- Data and Quality Assurance Reporting using Tableau, Power BI or Excel
- Adept at creating/writing reports and presenting findings
- Curious problem solver by nature; able to quickly make sense of complex data issues
- Driven, self-motivated, team player adept at working in environment with competing priorities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business and technology stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills including to senior leadership and external stakeholders; able to "think on your feet" and respond to questions where the answer is not known or not straightforward.
