Core Platforms 

Do you want to build software that impacts millions of customers around the world, taking on some of the world's most complex ecommerce challenges? We are looking for hard-working engineers to join our Core Infrastructure department in our Amsterdam HQ. 

In Core Infrastructure we design, build and operate all the technology that our Booking.com product development teams need in order to deliver great travel products to our customers.

This role will be heavily involved in the DC design, DC roadmap and DC evolution program which is a multi site and multi year journey right sizing and right designing our data center footprint, which will require this person to tap into a lot of internal and external resources to achieve our objectives in particular  our data center teams, internal service owners and also external services e.g.  validating technology, architecture and solutions to achieve overall objectives. 

The position also decides ownership of DC design, roadmaps and solutioning in line with our customer expectations.

Data Center Architects are knowledgeable about the specific requirements of a company’s entire infrastructure. They take into consideration various needs that the company might have including power, cooling, location, available utilities, and even pricing and they are also responsible for the physical and logistical layout of the resources and equipment within a data center facility. A critical aspect of their professional duties, they specify where and how the server, storage network, racks, and other data center resources are physically stored. They should play an active role in validating the technical requirements and associated architecture. It is them who must liaison with external suppliers to understand how certain solutions can be incorporated. 

Craft Experience :

Researching and analyzing new technologies, materials, construction methods, and environmental impact

Providing technical analysis, integration expertise, and critical data analysis related to system architecture in alignment with overall data center strategy

Maintaining a functional relationship with multi-disciplinary teams to support overall resource efficiency

Leading and supporting data center virtualization, service delivery, automation, and implementation

Experienced with Jira and able to stay organized and track work across multiple teams and projects using Jira and Jira Align

Domain Experience : 

Experience with data center environment solutions (both design as well as build)

Experience with leading data center assets

Mastery in DC lifecycle concepts, core infrastructure component setup

> 3 years of Data Center architectural experience

Proven experience in critically important facility design, construction, and implementation of Data Centers

5 years of proven track record with structured cabling, optical technologies, DC power management, and server/network hardware

Should possess knowledge of industry and safety standards, cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems

Experience working in a regulatory environment with deep understanding of Change Control, Incident Management & Problem Management processes and procedures

Performing infrastructure design, strategy, and services and participating in the implementation of computer system, network, storage, and security infrastructure

Building, owning and developing DC technology roadmaps
