We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to guide and expand our data team and operations. Our team is small, but multi-functional, and helps support and inform all facets of the company as we work to uncover insights in improving outcomes for individuals, families, health plans, and employers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with teams across the company to design and engineer data systems that improve our products and help teams across the organization move faster and smarter.

  • Maintaining and contributing to the evolution of Ovia Health’s underlying data systems and processes with the goal of making data accessible and actionable to teams across the organization.

  • Leading and mentoring a small, growing data team.

  • Develop and implement technical and team performance metrics with a keen eye for Ovia’s existing and future business objectives.

  • Actively contribute to teammates’ work via code reviews in a way that improves the team’s shared understanding of the code, improves our technology, and promotes reusability.

  • Create workflows and provide guidance and support in developing our Enterprise analytics dashboard (currently on Amazon QuickSight) and other visualization solutions.

  • Identify gaps in existing data tools and resources and help to define and optimize strategies and solutions moving forward.

  • Actively engage with Product & Engineering, Clinical, Client Success, and other teams in working towards company goals and KPIs.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience building and maintaining data systems and a track record of technical leadership

  • Expertise in data security best practices

  • Deep knowledge of SQL, data architecture patterns and experience with multiple programming languages.

  • Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data lakes/warehouses

  • Experience and familiarity with AWS cloud environments

Additional Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams to work collectively to solve problems.

  • Experience building & leading a data engineering team

  • Experience handling multiple types of clinical data (EHR/ELR, claims, survey) and working in a HIPAA-compliant environment

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of statistics

  • Experience and/or interest in Machine Learning
