Job Summary/Company:

A Sparks Group Partner is seeking a Database Administration Specialist to join their team. Currently, this position is remote due to COVID, but will eventually turn into a hybrid work schedule. Candidate must be able to commute into 1 of the 3 offices (Dallas, NYC, or Winston-Salem). Responsibilities:

  • Review, plan, and deploy SQL Server product maintenance releases
  • Provide SME technology support of SQL Server areas to address production incidents promptly
  • Implement new database technologies with the application development team
  • Deploy new databases and changes to support application processing
  • Production incident support including after hours and on-call weekend support as required
  • Provide 3rd party application support with relation to databases: testing, architecting, and implementation enterprise solutions
  • Provide SME expertise and support all aspects of the SQL Server environment
  • Work with team to coordinate activities/implementations, follow and document procedures, respond, track, and escalate systems incidents
  • Oversee/manage BAU projects such as infrastructure software upgrades and patch management

Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or equivalent
  • 5-10 years' experience as a Microsoft SQL Server SME in IT/Financial services
  • Broad knowledge in SQL Server 2016 Always on Availability Group Database Administration techniques
  • Database Administration experience in a SQL Server Enterprise environment utilizing high availability/disaster recovery features
  • Extensive knowledge of core infrastructure components (high availability, federation, replication)
