DEVOPS ENGINEER II JOB SUMMARYMetro Systems is looking for a Devops Engineer to support a Fortune 100 client in Charlotte, NCMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESActively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience • Provide technical guidance to other team members located in various locations, inside and outside the United States, to support the contact center application portfolio.• Provide technical recommendations as we build our CI / CD pipeline and supporting toolsets• Support and maintain physical, virtual, and containerized application servers.• Liaise with architecture and design teams to ensure operational considerations (monitoring, automation, alerting, logging) are considered in all solutions• Extend and enhance various system health monitoring and reporting tools.• Write and maintain automation scripts for system maintenance and administration.• Work with architects, technologists, and others for future system enhancements and scalability.• Actively participate in decisions to develop and improve security-based standards and practices.• Perform application changes, deployments, and DR tasks on a predefined schedule.• Perform advanced troubleshooting techniques in a high-pressure environment.• Provide after-hours support on an “as needed” or “on call” basis.• Serve as a technical SME for other internal and external groups.• Train others in the use of tools, functions, and techniques REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English• Must be proficient in MS Office• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of business users in a professional manner• Experience using OpenStack• Ability to perform after hours tasks• Experience with building and improving cross integration across tools and components to build a world class monitoring platform• Experience administering Linux systems in a production environment• Ability to lead other staff doing similar work in the department• Ability to offer training and instruction and helps to set the work pace within the department• Domain knowledge of systems management, DevOps and ITIL is strongly desired.• Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric• Highly responsive and proactive, able to own tasks from start to finish.• Strong organizational and multitasking skills EducationBA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience Related Work Experience• Working knowledge of containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker and various hypervisors• Strong expertise using monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or AppDynamics• 3-5 years’ experience with DBMS such as Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL.• Strong working experience and certifications in Linux Server Administration. Windows Administration, Network experience, and associated certifications are a plus• Experience using source control and deployment tools, such as Automic, Jenkins, Git, and/or Puppet• 3+ years in an application support specialist or equivalent position in a large IT organization• 3-5 years’ experience with software development methodologies, 4D, Agile Scrum/Kanban• 3-5 years working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Unix and Windows.
