Driver Recruiting & Retention Coordinator

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Driver Recruiting and Retention Coordinator to join our team working from our plant location in Fayetteville, NC. This high impact role will be responsible for working under the direction of the Driver Recruiting and Retention Manager, to support the company’s drivers recruiting and retention efforts.

Job Summary:

The position will be responsible for supporting company’s drivers recruiting and retention efforts.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Supports development and implements driver hiring strategy at each division.

Works with HR to develop marketing strategy for division.

Trains division management on how to properly communicate what Darling Ingredients has to offer to prospective drivers.

Trains division management on the interview process.

Conducts on-site job fairs at divisions with multiple openings.

Oversee applicant processing to include review of application, running pre-hire MVR, PSP report, criminal background check, telephone interview, road test, in-person interview, physical, and drug test. Ensures applicant processing takes place in an expedited fashion to improve our hiring success rate.

Works with Fleet Safety and division managers to ensure only drivers with safety records that meet or exceed company requirements are hired.

Supports development and implements driver retention strategy at each division.

Tracks drivers through the on-boarding process, including a 30-day review with each new hire to address any concerns they may have. Provides feedback to division management.

Frequently reviews driver compensation and benefits at each division. Works to ensure that we consistently offer a package that is competitive or superior to other companies within our markets.

Surveys existing drivers, at least annually, to identify positive and negative experiences. Uses positive experiences to continuously improve our recruiting communications. Serves as a driver advocate to communicate negative experiences to division level. Seeks solutions that mutually benefit the driver and the company.

Attempts to identify reasons for driver turnover and works with division level management to implement corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications:

In-depth understanding of the issues that impact driver hiring and retention.

PC skills and knowledge of various computer applications (MS Office, Internet, etc.)

Knowledge of Federal/State DOT guidelines and company policies involving the recruiting and on-boarding of truck drivers.

Ability to prioritize projects and meet established deadlines.

Good interpersonal and verbal /written communication skills.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands are those of a typical office worker.

Employee will be required to walk, climb into trucks, and ride with truck drivers.

Work Environment:

Works in office and field environments.

The noise level is usually moderate.

Must be able to work all shifts and weekends as business demands.

Travel is required and can be as much as 50%.
