This position will be based in Wendell, NC.As the Head of Systems Development, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the transformation of our existing development capability into a high-performing engineering focused Systems Development Team. Your primary focus will be establishing and managing outsourced offshore development capacity, implementing agile development operations processes, establishing robust development quality measures, and integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into our engineering practices – all of which to effectively drive engineering productivity, efficiency, and quality. This role is crucial in shaping the future of our engineering capabilities and ensuring that we maintain a competitive edge in the industry.Roles & ResponsibilitiesTransformation Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive transformation strategy of our development capability to transition into a high-performing Systems Development Team capable of scaling with the broader organization it supports.

Enable a strategy that is informed by the latest industry trends and technology to lead the way to new heights aligned with our business goals and objectives that includes defining and implementing best-practice Portfolio Management capabilities, Catalog/Code Standardization and Sharing policies, etc.

Mentor, lead, and inspire your team (and the broader organization) through this transformational journey, fostering a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and innovation.

Development Capacity:

Evaluate existing developer resource capabilities and skillsets and implement training programs, alter focuses, etc. to maximize development capacity and quality.

Establish efficient offshore development workflows and manage cross-cultural collaboration effectively.

Design and organize blended onshore/offshore team structures to deliver optimal results.

Agile Development Operations:

Implement Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to optimize development processes and improve project delivery timelines.

Foster a collaborative and agile mindset within the team, promoting adaptability and responsiveness as well as entrepreneurship.

Development Quality Measures:

Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the quality and efficiency of the Systems Development Team, including risk-mitigating documentation protocols for business continuity purposes.

Continuously monitor and improve code quality, testing/review processes, and development best practices.

New Technology:

Lead the integration of new Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and other modern or cutting-edge technology capabilities into our engineering practices whether directly or through leveraged resources and skillset additions to the team.

Identify opportunities to leverage advanced technology for process enhancement, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

Talent Development:

Analyze and identify opportunities to upskill the team and implement the right measures to transform them into a future ready team that embraces new technologies and ideas.

Mentor and develop team members, providing them with the guidance and resources needed for success.

Develop succession models and redundancy plans for knowledge base retention with key team members and areas of expertise.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Quality Management, Business Excellence, various IT Operations teams, etc. to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.

Communicate the progress of the transformation initiative and AI/ML integration to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Challenge the value-add and ROI applicability of demand requests to ensure continuous resource optimization.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Proven experience in leading development team scale-up transformations.

Strong understanding of blended onshore/offshore development models.

Proficiency in Agile methodologies and software development project management tools.

Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to drive change, improve processes, and achieve results.

Experience in managing diverse, cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any or all existing applications/software in our ecosystem, to include – SAP, Salesforce.com, internal configurators, Ebase, Autocad/Autocad Electrical, Siemens NX and Teamcenter design suite, etc.

Broad knowledge of industry wide technology and programming languages, to include those existing in our current environment.

The pay range for this position is $117,000 - $200,700 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
