Job Description

Responsible for the implementation, administration, interpretation, and enforcement of safety & environmental requirements including plant, Corporate, local, state and federal regulations. This position will be responsible for working at two locations. Establish safety & environmental standards based on risk/hazard analysis to meet regulatory requirements and HSE management systems (ISO 14001, OSHA, ISO 45000). Review of HSE incidents for root cause and establishment of corrective and preventative actions. Provide technical assistance with various plant staff functions. Coordinate plant safety teams.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Management of waste and chemicals for two sites in SC
  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce safety policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Develop, review and present HSE related communication including training, safety alerts and production review meetings
  • Lead Incident Investigations, facilitating root cause analysis and proper corrective and preventative actions
  • Review incident data to identify trends and implement improvements to reduce safety injury rates
  • Participate in/lead plant emergency response teams
  • Conduct hazard assessments of equipment/jobs to ensure they meet all applicable requirements
  • Develop/revise HSE related policies/procedures for the plant and drive implementation
  • Lead safety audits of key program areas to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Conduct formal reviews of new equipment, equipment modifications, or process changes
  • Maintain documentation to meet regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the plant safety teams
  • Interact with state and federal agencies and consultants to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies requirements
  • Safety program compliance to include but not limited to:
    • LOTO, Electrical Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Confined Space, PPE, etc.
  • Environmental program compliance to include but not limited to:
    • Air Permitting, EPCRA Reporting, Waste Regulations, Water Regulations, TSCA, etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience in an HSE role Safety, Health, Environmental, or Occupational Safety
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Environmental Sciences
  • Ability to travel between two sites
  • Familiarity with federal and state OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability to speak in front of crowds and communicate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications: including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations and apply to business situations.
  • Strong decision making abilities, and capable of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
