The SC HE Account Manager (AM) is responsible for an extremely challenging mix of client management, project management, and cross-team coordination. Significant previous experience in these areas is required, along with the proven ability for managing multiple clients of various sizes and types (public, private, etc.).Management personnel performing at this level typically have significant years of consulting and higher education experience. Typical client engagement roles include executive oversight, project team coaching, quality assurance, project management, project planning, readiness assessment, management consulting, change management, and/or communications strategy development and planning.As account management assignments are made, the AM assumes responsibility for managing the operational and reporting components of a client relationship. This could include monthly executive status reporting (internal and external), risk analysis, and issue escalation. By partnering with Business Development Managers, Sales Managers, Delivery Leaders, and Executive Sponsors, the AM is responsible for client satisfaction and results, expanding relationships, and helping with sales support and account development. The distribution of the following duties and responsibilities will vary depending upon current Client/Prospect assignments, client needs, individual areas of expertise, and other project roles and assignments. This role description is intended to be a guide to emphasize our client relationship and client results focus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, and other duties may be assigned:
  • Take responsibility for client satisfaction and assist with financial and quality measurement during and after engagements.
  • Develop, document, and maintain strategic relationships and communications with Stakeholders at assigned Clients/Prospects.
  • Develop relationships with, and provide consulting support to, Client Executives and Senior Staff, (e.g., President, Chancellor, Vice President, Vice Chancellor, Provost, CIO/IT Executive, CFO/Finance Executive, Enrollment Services Executive, Other Administration Executive, HR Director, Controller, Student Affairs Dean, Project Director/Manager), and the evaluation/operation/steering committee members, as appropriate.
  • Gather and confirm issues with institutional Stakeholders, provide account leadership and partner in opportunity strategy development with Sales Executive and Business Development Manager. Identify, document, and revise Client/Prospect needs and expectations over a multi-year planning horizon.
  • Develop proposals, project plans, and lead client presentations to respond to client issues and needs, assist with project staffing decisions and transactions, and coach project teams throughout the project and with emphasis during start-up activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Sierra-Cedar HE projects and services, industry practices, trends, and issues to be able to emphasize the success of our client and the skills and experience of our consultants.
  • Review all project financials for active clients, including budget preparation and staffing plans, monthly project reconciliations, expense/billing approvals, and assistance with collections.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, or other ERP systems
  • At least 3 years Higher Education experience as a Project Manager or Account Manager
  • Minimum 3 years client-facing management and oversight
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and work teams
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, team members, and Sierra-Cedar leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree required

TRAVELBased on clients/Sierra-Cedar need (currently approximately 50% with possibility of increased need)
