Job Summary: The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development of target-state architectures, roadmaps and solutions, focusing on technologies at the product group level or within an architecture domain (e.g., business, application, data, infrastructure). With time and experience, the individual in this role may support several applications spanning multiple product groups and/or multiple architecture domains (e.g., business, application, data, infrastructure).

This includes working with development teams, building and delivering architecture solutions and/or providing guidance to ensure that program and project architectures adhere to target-state architectures, standards, and roadmaps. The Lead Enterprise Architect plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of architecture and alignment to the organization's technology direction.

To be successful, the individual in this role must have system design experience as well as an understanding of technical trends and innovation. This individual must also have a strategic thought process, strong business acumen, and be comfortable communicating with senior leadership. This role receives some limited guidance and direction from more senior level architects on the team.

With a focus specifically on Data Architecture, this role leads the development of domain-specific data models to drive consistent use of data across application portfolios. This includes responsibility for documenting the current state of Lowe's data architecture through collaboration with Data Owners, Architects, and Subject Matter Experts. It also includes working closely with solution delivery teams to ensure adherence to data principles, the adoption of data standards, and the alignment to the desired target state.

Key Responsibilities: • Helps ensure current state Enterprise Architectures are well defined and domain specific architectures are in alignment with enterprise level strategy and direction; proposes new architecture where appropriate

• Builds architecture solutions for individual technologies, typically within one architecture domain, and participates in the process of building more complex, cross-domain architecture solutions with input and direction from more senior level enterprise architects

• Produces documents for review by the Architecture Review Board; promotes the value and functional application of architectural governance, standards, guidelines and patterns

• Helps define and document the organization's Enterprise Architecture standards, target state architectures, and best practices that guide and influence architecture decisions for a specific product group and/or architecture domain

• Helps application owners at the product group level identify weaknesses and develop improvements; works with leadership to prioritize improvement projects

• Researches technology industry trends to determine their potential impact on area of focus

• Educates and helps the business incorporate Enterprise Architecture standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency across the organization

• Creates architecture roadmaps at the product group level for the introduction and retirement of technology, cost/risk reduction and optimization, adherence to architectural standards, and the continual enablement of business strategies

• Conducts POCs (proof of concepts) activities and contributes to whitepapers to inform key technology decisions and strategy

• Helps create transition plans and retirement plans for moving from current to target state architecture for area of focus

• Participates in the evaluation and selection of application, data, and infrastructure technologies

• Communicates decisions and standards of the Enterprise Architecture practice to the organization, driving understanding and appreciation for the value of architecture governance and standards

• Participates in the development of architecture metrics and reporting to evaluate and communicate the achievement and impact of the Enterprise Architecture function; presents Enterprise Architecture content to internal and external audiences

Data Architecture Responsibilities

• Helps set the direction of data architecture for application portfolios using multiple techniques and viewpoints, such as conceptual/logical/physical data models, data flow diagrams, data entity/business function matrices, etc.

• Provides decision support, guidance, and recommendations regarding data design deliverables to project teams supporting business solution delivery

• Creates, maintains, and communicates current and target state data architecture for data domains within the DACI subject areas

• Oversees, creates, and reviews program and project data architectures to frame architectural project work and execution in collaboration with other architects

• Reviews project deliverables from project technical leads and IT teams to ensure they meet data standards

• Guides application development teams in the data design of complex solutions and ensures that teams are in alignment with the data architecture principles, standards, strategies, and target states

• Facilitates the transition from high level design and supports the project lifecycle with input from executive leadership where needed

• Ensures existing data/information assets are identified, stewarded and leveraged across the enterprise

• Helps define and enforces data architecture standards, procedures, metrics, and policies to ensure consistency and adherence to Lowe's processes
