Job Description

The Logistics Specialist Packagingis responsible for maintaining the customer and supplier packaging loops for the Charleston plant and ensuring proper expendable and returnable packaging supply to all value streams. This position involves close interaction with internal planning teams, suppliers, customers and our 3rd party packaging supplier.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop value stream specific packaging forecasts based on customer demand and compare to available inventory at 3rd party packaging supplier Plan corrugated packaging material on component level and ensure coverage in cooperation with 3rd party packaging supplier as well as advise on alternative expendable components when needed Direct interface to customers and suppliers in light of returnable packaging fleet calculations while comparing results to status quo and communicating fleet changes as well as change requests Create and improve standards for packaging material and information flow and lead strategic improvement projects (internally and at 3rd party packaging supplier) applying principles of the Bosch Production System Monitor packaging kit stock levels in all vertical systems (P81, P87, P99) Process receipts in SAP based on dunnage verification reports in all vertical SAP systems (P81, P87, P99) Maintain all customer internet portals (ex. GM, Ford, FCA, Honda), including answering requests and monitoring for inventory variances Address corrugated invoice disputes with 3rd party packaging supplier as part of scheduling agreement invoicing process Investigate and file customer expendable backup compensation requests (including claims and scrap requests) in light of primary fleet shortages and fleet fallout Support packaging engineer to determine proper packaging cost per piece as part of awarding new business Continuous improvement of existing processes including creation and update of standard work instructions (customer portals, customer packaging, etc) Conduct physical inventory cycle counts (as needed) to assure production coverage for a 24 hour, 7 day per week assembly schedule

Qualifications

4-year college degree (technical field preferred) or equivalent experience 2-year packaging coordination/planning experience preferred Knowledge of Bosch SAP systems, including P87, P81, P99, and POE (including interactions between systems) with focus on packaging Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint a must) Advanced knowledge of Bosch Production System including the BPS System Approach Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers Ability to work under pressure and meet deadline, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
