Job Title: Mainframe Application Architect & Project LeadLocation: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)Position Type: Contract with Possible extensionDuration: 12+ monthsJob Description:Short Description:Client seeks to procure one contractor to fill a Mainframe Programmer Architect role. The primary responsibility is to cleanse data in the current legacy Benefit Payments System and convert the data to Oracle.Complete Description:The Mainframe Architect is expected to handle design, implementation, and maintenance of mainframe computer systems for client. The primary responsibilities of this position is to assist in maintaining the Tax and FARS systems and work on the Tax Modernization project including data cleansing and conversion. The contractor will work with other technical teams to ensure that the mainframe system is properly integrated with other systems and technologies. They are expected to help resolve technical issues that arise with the mainframe system. This may include working with other technical teams to diagnose and resolve problems, as well as developing and implementing preventative measures to minimize the risk of future issues. This role will have the added duties of performing as a project lead that provides oversight and direction to a small team of other Mainframe Architects, including tracking progression on project tasks, leading meetings between the mainframe staff and business customers, and delegating assignments as needed by their direct management.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required:Knowledge of VSAM and Hierarchical database structures.Technical knowledge and experience with mainframe technology. COBOL 10years, CICS 10 yrs, VSAM 10yrs, and JCL (10yrs.)Knowledge and experience in converting data from one application to another (10 yrs.)Successful completion of technology projects within area of responsibility.Experience analyzing feasibility, compatability, and cost of solutionsExtensive technical knowledge and experience in the relevant mainframe technology environment.Strong leadership skills to motivate team members, delegate tasks effectively, and provide guidance, construtive feedback, and support when needed.Must be able to communicate with team members and business section staff in a way that is clear, concise, and easily understood using terminology familiar to both groups.Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and keep track of project progress in order to report back to management or other senior level leaders.Experience in a leadership position that required close coordination with team memebers and business customers.Ability to identify potential problems and develop effective solutions to overcome them. Must also be able to think critically and creatively to find new ways to solve problems as they arise.Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, adjust plans as needed, and stay flexible throughout the project lifecycle.Desired skills:Ability to engage business experts in the purpose and use of data in the Benefit Payment Application
