Job Description:
  • The client requires Senior Mainframe Developers to support ongoing critical technical interface processes, support ongoing inquiry-only applications, and most importantly support Child Placement and Payment System (CPPS) and Central Registry applications for the Child Welfare program.
  • The primary responsibilities include application enhancement as per business needs, diagnosing application issues, and providing production support using CICS, COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, stored procedures, and other supporting mainframe technologies.
  • This role will perform senior-level business and systems analysis, modeling and design, and programming using COBOL, CICS, and DB2. Duties also include participation in estimating efforts; consultation and planning for specific modifications and enhancements to production applications/information systems; monitoring technical effort activities for adherence to schedules, milestones, and deliverables; providing status and time reporting; monitoring efforts for quality assurance and adherence to state, departmental and divisional standards and procedures.

Required Skills:
  • Experience in Software development and debugging using Mainframe technologies such as Cobol, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO, and VSAM.
  • Hands-on experience in Programming using DB2(Z/OS), DB2 SQLs, and Stored procedures.
  • Experience with source code management tools like Endeavor.
  • Experience with QMF, SPUFI, and FILE AID/CA-tools.
  • Extensive experience in debugging COBOL/DB2 application code using tools like XPEDITOR/CA-Intertest.
  • Experience with X/PTR(reporting tool).
  • Experience with Zeke or similar job scheduler tools.
  • Experience with structured system development methodologies such as an agile (preferred), and waterfall.
  • Experience in understanding and gathering business requirements, reviewing specifications, developing test cases, and performing unit/system testing.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to develop good working relationships/partnerships with clients.
  • Ability to translate and communicate highly technical concepts to both technical and non-IT business users.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Highly desired Skills:
  • Experience with CA-Easytrieve/Plus.
