What you'll do

We are seeking a Manager of Product Management in Cloud & Platforms to set, promote, and manage product strategy for the SAS Data and Analytic platforms for public, private and hybrid cloud scenarios. Provide oversight and continuity for your team's individual product manager's vision and direction. Deliver market driven offerings by knowing the market, competition and customers as well as working effectively across the global SAS organization.

Collaborate with engineering team(s) regarding the product line development and contribute to the prioritization and resourcing decisions. Communicate product line content and knowledge to internal constituents. Support the external presence of SAS and our offerings.

You will:
  • Set, execute, and publish the product line or group of products overall vision and roadmap
  • Deliver product vision, roadmap, and software demonstrations to internal constituents, customers, press, analysts, at events, etc. providing domain expertise and thought leadership internally and externally
  • Define and prioritize product requirements based on customer, prospect, and evaluator inputs, market direction and field contribution
  • Collaborate with and drives product development in R&D based on requirements management and product lifecycle
  • Monitor the product development process
  • Review product vision and roadmap documents (your teams as well as other portfolios)
  • Support sales, customer facing efforts, launch and go to market plans
  • Ensure teams are transferring knowledge of product functionality to marketing and sales
  • Review and contribute to the technical, fact-oriented content used for pricing, positioning and collateral. Review the resulting artifacts to ensure the business strategy and customer perspective is considered
  • Manage the product line/product across its lifecycle, leveraging available tools
  • Identify new market opportunities and evaluates emerging technology and business issues that may present opportunities or threats to the company
  • Work with industry analysts to provide content and demonstrations for various reports and acts as a point of contact for inbound inquiries
  • Be a product champion by analyzing external market trends, competition, opportunities that impact the user and capabilities of the platform
  • May manage OEM/Technical Provider relationships
  • Participate in customer briefings at a strategic level
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to achieve product management success

What we are looking for:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field.
  • IaaS, PaaS, SaaS experience and knowledge
  • 8+ years in product management and 3+ years people managment experience
  • Ability to think strategically and articulate/translate product features and customer values into user and buyer personas
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to articulate customer and business needs into product marketing plans
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent writing skills including the ability to translate technical information into simple language
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate
  • Serves as member of the senior product management team responsible for determining overall product management strategy for SAS products and services
  • Establishes and prioritizes department or division responsibilities and objectives relative to department, division, and product management goals
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership for product management plan development, implementation, and support
  • Reviews and approves plans for product management projects development, implementation, and support
  • Acts as a liaison between department or division and internal and external parties that influence overall product management strategies
  • Performs all functions related to managing employees including determining resource needs and making requests for personnel, equipment, and other resources, recruiting, interviewing, and selecting new employees
  • Sets and communicates performance standards and provides performance feedback
  • Encourages and fosters skill development and professional growth

Nice to haves:
  • K8s experience
  • You have experience with consuming software and contributing code to the Apache Software Foundation, and/or other similar Open-Source software management institutes/organization.
  • Secure Software Design knowledge
  • Experience with containers, orchestration and "serverless compute."
  • Experience with SAS administration and/or architecture.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile software development methodologies in a Linux/Unix/CentOS operating system environment.
