Position Name: MRI Tech Location: Winston Salem, NC 27157 Duration: Perm Salary range: $55-57/hr Manager's note:-

  • The client has a Full Time (perm) opening for this role, so they prefer local candidates temp to perm
  • however we will still consider travelers Sat/Sun 7a-7p and Mon 8a-8p (3 Days in a week)

Job Summary Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment, computer, and image management systems utilized in performing MRI exams. Demonstrates patient care skills appropriate for a working environment that utilizes magnetic fields and knowledgeable in the application of MR contrast agents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Possesses overall knowledge of MR physics, including how the selection of parameters and options affects image quality. 2. Maintains venipuncture technique and patient care skills appropriate for administration of MRI contrast materials. 3. Is authorized to obtain medication, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. Medications to include radioisotopes and contrast materials cannot be administered without appropriate clinical credentials, training, and certification to do so. Employees designated to "obtain " these items may also participate in the ordering and distribution of inventory. 4. Maintains the technical versatility to adapt to changes in technique or technical protocols, and provides informative input for supervisors or physicians. 5. Independently adjusts acquisition parameters for the patient or study that does not fit the "routine " criteria. Is competent and reliable in independent working conditions ( i.e., call, weekends.) Skills:
  • Understands and can communicate the unique safety concerns with the MRI environment and of MRI procedures including restrictions due to the strong magnetic field and/or the effects of heating due to the use of radio waves used to acquire MRI images.
  • Completes all the necessary screening of patients, staff and family members who enter the MRI suite.
  • Works within the parameters and guidelines of regulatory agencies.
  • Responds to emergencies in the MRI suite with the knowledge of specific safety concerns that must be adhered to by all personnel, and includes and understanding of the limitations regarding emergency equipment that can be brought into the MR environment
  • Maintains safe work habits and routines in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
  • Ensures a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent and completion of a formal, AMA approved Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine program required. Registry with either the NMTCB, ARRT (N), or ARRT (R) required. Advanced Registry in MRl beneficial.
