Operator I

Position Purpose: The Operator I operates, monitors, and maintains water treatment, dewatering, sludge-processing, disposal, and testing equipment in a refinery or industrial facility. This position ensures that water treatment processes are completed safely and efficiently and that treated water meets customer and regulatory specifications.The Operator I monitors plant operations, conducts quality testing, maintains process controls, and adjusts chemical levels as needed to support optimal treatment performance. This position works 12-hour day shifts, including rotating weekends.Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Perform routine grounds and facility maintenance, including mowing, weed trimming, and operating various tools and equipment.Monitor water treatment plant processes and maintain effective process control by adjusting chemical levels as needed.Collect water and process samples in accordance with established procedures.Operate and monitor the SCADA system to track plant performance and identify operational issues.Conduct laboratory testing and accurately record and report results.Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area and follow all applicable safety procedures and regulatory requirements.Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
