Serves as liaison and resource for Radiology PACS and Lab associated system problems, working on solutions, and monitoring their effectiveness.Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of PACS and Lab-associated systems.Maintains a visible profile for staff and physicians to discuss problems and ideas for system improvements.Identifies problems and works through to a solution quickly by mobilizing any resources needed. Calls in vendors and holds them accountable in working toward a solution when major problems arise.Reviews, updates and creates down-time procedures detailing alternate plans for system failures associated with PACS and Lab-associated systems. Educates staff with documented procedures placed throughout the work area for quick reference. Performs periodic revisions with proper education and communication taking place for staff, physicians and radiology leaders.Develops plans for the installation and deployment of the CR Web System. Acts as liaison between various departments, physicians and physician offices to assess end-user needs and develops a plan to provide information in digital/electronic format. Assumes responsibility for Web training needs of the institution and develops a plan to train end-users effectively. Drives the migration to filmless environment by getting end-users to see the benefit/efficiency of replacing film with electronic means.Ensures optimal PACS and Lab operations by establishing routine monitoring of system queues to ensure proper routing, determining proper pre-fetch routines, and changing/editing radiologist hanging protocols.Assists in evaluating the next steps in moving toward PACS and how it affects work flow. Works with areas throughout Haywood, Harris and Swain in designing effective systems for obtaining radiographic images and electronic radiology report information.Assumes responsibility for teleradiology systems and protocols.Assumes accountability at required meetings as evidenced by attendance and participation. Completes assignments in specified timeframe.Participates in special projects or performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Education

Graduate of an Applied Science and/or Technology Program.Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of three years of experience in working with clinical diagnostic equipment and/or PACS/Web systems required. Five years of experience preferred.Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
