As a Principal AWS Software Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the overall architecture of the nCino platform, policies, and procedures. You will oversee the design of product features and perform extensive research and development on new technologies, frameworks and methodologies. Working with architects, product managers and development teams, your experience and contributions will help to guide the technical direction of nCino.

Responsibilities
  • Architectural stewardship of nCino AWS platform
  • Investigation and evaluation of new technologies and patterns
  • Design and develop sustainable enterprise software, integrations and system architectures on the AWS platform
  • Provide technical leadership for the improvement of existing applications in an agile development environment
  • Introduce standard methodologies and lead improvements to keep nCino applications current while always achieving better security, performance, and maintainability
  • Craft technical artifacts and presentations to communicate architectural design options that help educate development teams and business users
  • Communicate and coordinate with leadership to transform business goals into technical objectives
  • Contribute to the development of cross-team, framework-level projects
  • Overall accountable for AWS Platform architecture supporting product/application adoption
  • Support product development teams, infra teams around implementation of solutions
  • Maintain minimum application deployment standards (governance, cost management and tech deb perspective)
  • Work with Security to define security requirements, design and implement solutions
  • Work with Infrastructure engineering teams to ensure standards and reference solutions are develop with respect to the domain areas (Data Protection, Disaster Recovery, etc.)
  • Analyzing complex business and software requirements leading to the selection and implementation of appropriate technical public cloud architectural solutions.
  • Ensuring the software and development requirements align to the defined infrastructure service standards
  • Ensure architecture, process, standards and best practice documentation is current
  • Optimizing and tuning designs based on performance and root cause analysis
  • Analysis of existing solutions alignment to infrastructure standards and providing feedback to both evolve and mature the solution

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience of designing, optimizing and troubleshooting public cloud platforms associated with large, complex application stacks
  • Effective at both collaboration and negotiation with internal stakeholders.
  • Capable of managing and prioritize multiple projects with competing resource requirements and timelines
  • Extensive experience working in the AWS cloud environment
  • Development experience, preferred Python,JavaScript and Java languages
  • AWS Solution Architect certification (associate or professional) along with hands on experience of designing and managing AWS cloud solutions. DevOps Professional Certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK)
  • Previous experience working as a either a Technical Architect, Solutions Architect, Technical Design Authority or Solutions Designer would be preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in developing state-of-the-art cloud solutions for scalability, reliability, security, and performance
  • Broad understanding/experience across full stack infrastructure technologies

Desired:
  • Experience in Fintech or related business domains.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers is strongly recommended
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM and TDD development methodologies
