The Assistant Product Manager will report to the Product Manager or Assistant Product Manager II and will be based in our company headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C. This role is a key contributor in delivering the Hanes Full Potential plan. The deliverables for this role will focus on collaboration with cross functional teams to plan and execute merchandise assortments while placing the consumer at the forefront of every decision.

  • Offering strategy
    • Support line planning
    • Conduct analysis to support Growth Team strategic decision-making and go-to-market planning (e.g., pricing, sales strategy, consumer needs)
    • Conduct competitor analysis, review competitor offerings, and generate summary of competitive landscape
    • May support in research activities, advertising campaigns, and major initiatives
  • Garment/ product design and development
    • Assist leading Line Development & Design (C2C) calendar and ensure adherence, track progress against key calendar milestones
    • Assist completing master style set-up
  • Sell to the customer
    • Contribute to sampling, buyer ads, and seeding decisions
    • Work with Sales on Sell-in, prepare collateral, arrange merchandise and samples for sales meetings and photo shoots
    • Create sell-in sheets for key customers
    • Mail samples out to customers
  • Plan production/ produce the range
    • Conducts analysis to ensure plans are executed with specific attention to the seasonal launch of product updates and new program concepts
    • Enter merchandise and assortment information into planning systems/ style master
    • Support volume estimates
    • Support key winning portfolio priorities (e.g., decisions to add SKUs, etc.)
  • Sell to the consumer
    • Assist in analysis of consumer needs, preferences, and shopping behaviors
  • Operating planning & Financial management
    • Conducts analysis as directed for P&L management, including analysis related to quarterly planning, OPC, LRP sales & growth margins across all product lines. Contributes to P&L results
    • Conducts, or manages, analysis of wholesale pricing strategies and cost analysis
    • Conducts operating plan and projection analysis: shipment/pos/inventory evaluation, recommendations, and monthly tracking to ensure financial and inventory goals met.
    • Contributes to analyzing MAP spend
    • Conducts analysis, in collaboration with cross-functional partners (ex. sales, finance, supply chain) to meet sales and profit goals for the business
    • Conducts analysis of E&O and style/sku count to maximize inventory and ROI
  • Direct Reports subject to business needs

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of merchandise planning, marketing, or retail management/ direct to consumer experience
  • Proven record of successful business growth. Highly consumer-centric, identifies trend, and optimizes assortment based on consumer inputs from multiple consumer touchpoints
  • Deep experience and passionate focus on merchandise as a consumer advocate.
  • Strong product and operational knowledge with proven experience in driving collaboration and partnering cross-functionally to drive the business.
  • Experience analyzing business opportunities. Specifically, experience understanding and applying learnings to drive consistent results.
  • Strategic thinker who recognizes opportunities and can influence decision makers to move to execution using both quantitative and qualitative research.
