Description: Payroll Lead (equivalent to grade 28) Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position Gilead is seeking a Payroll Lead to participate in the U.S. bi-weekly payroll process for 7000+ employees and participate in payroll projects for North America. Business partners include Human Resources, Accounting, Legal, and Stock Administration. The Payroll Lead is experienced in executing and handling day-to-day payroll operations. He/she also has extensive experience in creating desktop procedures. The position requires the individual to have the ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize work, demonstrate accountability, be a team player, be flexible, and ensure payroll deadlines are met. The Payroll Lead will also help ensure that the payroll process is compliant with applicable labor laws and regulations and is SOX compliant. A high degree of professionalism and discretion is mandatory in handling sensitive and confidential information. Essential Duties and Job Functions • Help develop desktop procedures to support process and system changes. • Audit payroll balancing sheets and complete flux analysis of payroll activity. • Participate in the year-end payroll activities, including preparation of W-2’s. • Support the day-to-day operations of the U.S. payroll team, including processing of expats, relocation, new hires, LOAs, benefits, terminations, tax inquiries, payroll helpdesk and employee changes as needed. • Complete the payroll interface from Workday to ADP and audit the results. Ensure each interface is reviewed and any errors are resolved. Complete additional interfaces for time and attendance, benefits, etc. • Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, finance policies (Controller’s Manual), and tax and labor law requirements are followed. • Maintain a great working relationship with all business partners. Knowledge, Experience and Skills • 6+ years of relevant experience and a BA or BS degree in accounting or equivalent. • Ability to build partnerships with key business stakeholders and work cross functionally. • Excellent analytical skills; ability to use good judgment to solve problems. • Excellent communication skills, organization skills, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills. • Working knowledge of ADP Pay Force, Kronos, and Workday is preferred. • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Visio, and Intermediate Excel) is required (i.e. vlookups, pivot tables, etc.) • 3+ years of relevant experience in preparing process maps and desktop procedures. • Strong written, presentation and interpersonal skills are required. • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-national, changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner. Must be detail oriented. • Team player, positive attitude, and willingness to support payroll department’s goals and vision.
