The Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented Senior Archaeologist for immediate employment in the Raleigh, NC office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential.This Senior Archaeologist position will support the multi-discipline environmental group in transportation. This candidate will serve as Principal Investigator and perform tasks ranging from project management, fieldwork, research, report writing, data collection and compilation, GIS mapping, and technical review among other duties.The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Leads fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping.Conducts quality technical reviews of compliance documents, prepared by internal staff and external consultants.Gathers data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports of investigations; compiles and organizes data collected by others.Assesses data, summarizes, and communicates key aspects that are meaningful to the work of other team members.Evaluates archaeological resources for National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and/or other relevant federal and state laws.Prepares Section 106 documents and reports including Phase I/II Survey Reports, testing and data recovery plans, data recovery reports, assessments of effects, agency coordination, Memoranda of Agreement/Understanding (MOAs/MOUs), and archaeology portions of NEPA documents.Oversees curation efforts for assigned projects to ensure timely submittal of curation packages following project completion.Guides projects through the Section 106 process, tracking project schedules, deliverables, and budgets. Anticipates project needs, next steps, and identifies/communicates risks to applicable project team members.Works under the supervision of manager but can complete all but the most complex tasks with minimal supervision.Conducts interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers and environmental specialists.Supports business development activities and mentorship of staff.
