Job Summary

This hands-on Senior Systems Engineer position will serve as part of the Compass Group North America technology integrations team, providing oversight, coordination, and delivering the activities supporting successful integration and migration of systems used by entities acquired by Compass Group. The Sr. Systems Engineer role combines systems engineering skills with the ability to support a diverse team of engineers. The position is responsible for overall support of Compass systems including overseeing daily workloads, providing engineering guidance, communicating departmental strategy, keeping management apprised of project status and helping to meet goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive can-do attitude while driving technical goals and managing time and priorities.

Responsibilities:• Experience working with multiple operating systems and platforms in both an on-premises and cloud environment o Including Windows Server 2012R2 and greater• Expert knowledge of Active Directory (ADFS, ADCS, DC Promo, GPO, RDS)• Knowledge of storage technology (SAN, SAN switching, hyperconverged, Cloud storage)• Implement and support AWS cloud services including Cloud Formation, EC2, VPC, Subnets, Route53, ALB/NLB, WAF, Stacksets, Security Groups, NACLs• Experience in migrating on-premises systems to AWS cloud• Advanced Scripting/programming (PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python, Lambda, YAML)• Advanced networking/distributed computing environment concepts (Routing protocols, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP)• Monitoring tools like MS Operations Manager, Splunk and Zabbix• In-depth troubleshooting of software and hardware issues including root cause analysis• Server virtualization technologies (VMware/vCenter, Hyper-V)• Security protocols (SSH, Winbind, etc.)• VDI (AWS WorkSpaces)• O365 Management• Web technologies (IIS, Apache, Tomcat, etc.)• Hardware (Dell Compellent/PowerEdge, IBM Power Series, Nutanix, Pure)• Exceptional analytical, research and problem-solving skills• Strong project management skills• Knowledge of the budgeting process including OpEx and CapEx business expenses• Bachelor's degree in IT, or equivalent combination of education/experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or combination of education and experience.• 5+ years of experience with a combination of Linux/Windows-based Server software and hardware engineering• 2+ years of experience architecting solutions in AWS Cloud• AWS/Microsoft/VMware certifications highly desired• Certifications highly preferred:o Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)o Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)o VMware (VCP) certificationo AWS Certified Solutions Architect• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.• Positive attitude and solutions-oriented thinking.• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
