Our client, in the Health Insurance industry, is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst for a direct hire. Although headquartered in NC, you can work from any of the approved states in the US as long as you can work Eastern Time Zone. The position falls under the Cost of Care division of this company. Other health insurers may call this division "Affordability," "Total Cost of Care," or "Medical Expense Reduction."

Location: Headquarters in Durham, NC; however as a FTE, you may work remotely from any of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

Job Description and Responsibilities: In summary, our client is seeking someone to analyze the data to draw logical, insightful conclusions from the data that provides insightful information to our client to make decisions related to reducing the medical cost of care and making healthcare and insurance more affordable. The technical component is not as important as the ability to draw logical conclusions from Data. Although, SQL or Tableau would be helpful, they are not as important as your analytical thinking and the ability to tell a story from the data. Working with different areas of the company that can affect medical expense, the Cost of Care team will be focused on measuring and accelerating the impact of medical expense savings projects. Bring your analytical skills to help draw helpful conclusions usingin depth data analysis and benchmarking. This role is necessary to evaluate, coordinate, and present medical savings data in a way that provides focus on the most effective ways to increase savings. • Develop, analyze, report and interpret complex data for ongoing activities/projects while ensuring that all data are accurate and available to meet established deadlines • Effectively communicate critical findings using narratives and visualization to all levels of the organization. • Build data stories that are engaging and actionable. Where and how are they building data stories. • Select the best tool to present key findings and adjust as needed for the targeted audience. • Conduct root cause analysis of increases or decreases in cost trends. • Identify complex trends and make recommendations to business areas to effectively assist them with decision making on operational or other business issues • Present findings and recommendations to all levels of leadership • Ability to effectively communicate critical findings using narratives and visualization. • May represent department on project teams and process optimization efforts that require analysis, interviews, procedure design, documentation and implementation • Work collaboratively with accountable function areas to complete effective needs analyses to successfully provide analytic support and problem solving assistance to business areas

Required Skills • Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science or related field • 5 years of experience with data analysis and preparation including experience with very large data sets • If no degree, 7 years of experience as stated above • Experience building visualizations with data • Experience in data and financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data. • Financial/data presentation experience preferred • Excel

Desired Skills • Experience in health care billing, medical expense management, or cost-of-care/affordability
