Job Summary: The primary purpose of this role is to use your expertise and technical skills around VMware / HCI infrastructure to participate in the day to day operational and project related responsibilities. You will be a part of a hardworking global team responsible for up keep of the environment under the agreed SLA's. The Engineer position requires expert level proficiency in technology and architecture, hands-on administration skills, and ability to translate high-level business requirements into technology execution. This role is expected to support multiple platforms within a single infrastructure engineering domain (e.g., network, storage, platform, database, middleware, mainframe).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participates in developing virtualization standards and roadmap through program and project design deliverables while executing cross team collaboration
  • Participates in virtualization infrastructure design development in alignment with engineering standards, procedures, metrics, and policies to ensure consistency and adherence to Lowe's processes.
  • Facilitates the completion of day to day business requests by addressing them in time.
  • Educates and mentors junior members of the team.
  • Facilitates the adoption of new technologies within Virtualization realm and map it to the current infrastructure footprint.
  • Use skills in troubleshooting activities and resolve any issues in the environment
  • Develops, validates, and executes infrastructure tests to identify system errors and ensure solutions meet functional specifications
• Leads effort to deliver the validation and testing of components of larger infrastructure systems and revises key system components based on test results as appropriate • Leads the implementation and maintenance of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure successful deployment and operation; develops and documents detailed standards (e.g., guidelines, processes, procedures) for the introduction and maintenance of services • Collaborates with Technology partners to help define and understand target strategies • Evaluates new service options, identifies issues and impacts, and makes recommendations on feasibility and ROI • Provides post-implementation support, making system enhancements as needed • Estimates resource requirements for technical design and testing efforts, develops system support plans, schedules, and assignments, and manages project components and schedules while mitigating project risks as appropriate • Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior level engineers; may provide feedback and direction on specific engineering tasks

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field) • 5 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development • 2 years of infrastructure engineering experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas • 2 years of experience leading projects with or without direct reports

Preferred Qualifications: • Master's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
  • Hands on experience with hypervisor and compute virtualization technologies (VMware Vsphere Suite )
  • Experience in Troubleshooting ESXi and vcenter Appliance.
  • Knowledge on vSphere Networking.
  • Experience in performance analysis and tuning on ESXi, vcenter, Virtual Machines and OS
  • Extensive experience in vROps.
  • Knowledge on VMware ESXi patching, VUM, update manager, baselines, hostprofiles.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere
  • Strong knowledge on Security Standards like TLS and VMware Hardening concepts.
  • Execute migrations and implementations plans and support VMWare changes.
  • Coordinating with Vendors & Stakeholders for all VMWare related issues.
  • Automation Experience with PowerShell /Python/Bash or Perl scripting Skills & Knowledge - Technical / Functional and Managerial.
  • Strong knowledge on platforms: HP ProLiant, Hyperconverged solution like VxRail
  • Strong knowledge on OS platforms: Windows Server 2008, 2012,2016 Redhat 5,6,7& Ubuntu/ SUSE Linux.
  • Knowledge in Network(NSX) and Storage virtualization
  • Strong knowledge on Storage platforms: Storage Area Networking (SAN), Hyperconverged storage (VSAN,), Software Defined Storage.

  • Certification Preferred: VCP, ITILv3, and having VCAP5/6
