Are you ready to help us make the future? The Senior Analyst, Tax Audits and Controversies will provide support for the active management the company’s Federal tax audit and litigation activities. Honeywell is under continuous audit by the US. The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting Honeywell’s response to the Federal tax authorities. Such responsibilities include assisting in the development of tax controversy strategy and tactics, understanding tax controversy trends and developments impacting tax positions, and ensuring adequate tax reserves are maintained for exposures. The Senior Analyst works closely with other members of the global tax function to ensure the company’s tax risk management activities are properly implemented. The Senior Analyst works closely with outside tax counsel and experts. Responsibilities of Position: § Tax Audits and Controversies – Successfully defend filing positions and assist in negotiating favorable resolutions of proposed deficiencies. Provide support for all pre-audit, audit, and post-audit tax controversy activities and assist in preparation of responses to tax authority information requests. Model and evaluate alternative tax settlement positions. Analyze IRS restructuring and approach to tax audits to ensure company preparedness for next US audit cycle. § Planning – Collaborate with tax team to identify, initiate and develop defensible tax audit positions. Identify tax controversy trends impacting structural and non-structural global tax planning strategies. Collaborate in the development of risk based approach to transfer pricing and repositioning activities. Ensure all documentation is prepared with a view toward tax controversy. § Business/Transactional Activities – Evaluate the tax effect and implications of business strategies, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to properly advise management. Review ongoing tax controversies for acquired business enterprises. § Financial Reporting – Assist in evaluating uncertain tax reporting positions to properly reflect the tax treatment of such items in Honeywell’s financial statements. Assist in financial projection and forecasting modeling for the resolution of tax controversies. Participate in the Company’s accounting for income taxes process, particularly deferred tax computations, and Sarbanes-Oxley process. Ensure global audit tracker data base and other controversy technology tools capture required information. § Legislative Activities – Analyze, monitor, and pursue legislative, regulatory, and judicial tax developments. Work with the Company’s government affairs group, tax professionals, and industry/advocacy groups to determine impact of proposals and assist in the communication of the Company’s position. § Compliance Support – Assist accurate reporting of tax matters by identifying, researching and evaluating the appropriate disclosure of tax positions to mitigate future tax controversies. Ensure sufficient documentation exists to defend a tax controversy and reflects latest tax audit results and controversy trends. Reports to: Director of Tax Audits and Controversies and Associate General Tax Counsel Must Have § CPA designation required. § A minimum of 3 years directly related and progressively responsible tax experience. We Value § Broad technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations. § Law degree with an advanced degree in taxation preferred § Solid financial accounting skills with a good working knowledge of accounting for income taxes and the ability to analyze financial statements. § Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company. § Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. § Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues. § Excellent communication and presentation skills.
